Deoriatal Travel Guide

Deoriatal or Devariyatal is a lake situated about 2.5 km on an uphill trek from Sari villages at an altitude around 2438m. Located on the Ukhimath – Chopta road. The lake is the reward you get for a short hike that starts from Sari village. It is on a well marked trail, where there is no possibility of losing your way. All your tiredness dissipates at your first glimpse of the lake. Which measures around 120m long by 75m broad, it’s encompassed by heavily wooded, yet lush green foliage. All the while being overlooked by snow capped mountains, Chaukhamba being one of them. The reflection of the mighty Chaukhamba peak on the water creates a beautiful effect.

Location of Deoriatal

Deoriatal is located on an uphill trek from the village Sari, on the Ukhimath-Chopta road in Uttarakhand. The road is motorable upto Sari, 10km from Ukhimath. From Sari village, there’s an easy 2.5 km trek to Deoriatal (2300m) that takes around 1 and a half hour.

How to Reach Deoriatal

There is no direct bus service from Delhi to reach Sari village. So you’ll have to break your journey either in Haridwar, Rudraprayag. One can get direct bus from Dehradun Railway Bus stand to Ukhimath.  Shared taxis keep plying from Ukhimath to Sari the entire day at intervals.

The route to Sari from Delhi would be:

Delhi > Haridwar > Rishikesh > Devprayag > Rudraprayag > Agastyamuni > Kund > Ukhimath > Sari
